This delightful little cottage is a perfect example of how old and new can balance and enhance each other when combined sensitively. This classic 19th century, two-up-two-down was built when Richmond was a village outside London . Its current owners decided to mark Richmond ’s metropolitan status by creating a contemporary glazed extension to their kitchen. The plain Spitalfields cupboards, zinc and wooden surfaces and glass-topped kitchen table give the building an urban twist, bringing light and the garden into the house
