There are more Shaker kitchens on the market than any other style but few, if any, that truly reflect original Shaker designs. Having been commissioned by The Shaker Shop to design a kitchen for its London showroom, Plain English's Creative Designer, Katie Fontana, exhaustively researched the principles of Shaker furniture-making before designing the Shaker kitchen which is now called The Williamsburg Kitchen.
Pillow-fronted drawers, hand-turned knobs and woods such as Maple and Cherry were at the heart of the Shaker ethos of beauty and utility and are an integral part of Plain English's Williamsburg Shaker Kitchen.
Beware kitchens with an over-reliance on gadgets and plastic. We love drawers that run on old-fashioned, wooden runners and try to avoid cupboards that do too much. Keep it simple.
The simple lines of Plain English’s Williamsburg Kitchen work equally well as a contemporary or country style kitchen and can either be unpainted to show the natural beauty of the wood, or hand painted by skilled craftsmen in Suffolk.
