BERRINGTON HALL Out in the world again. Looking at ideas and inspiration in the simple rooms of the great houses. A visit to a pretty perfect example of English neoclassicism, Henry Holland’s Berrington Hall in Herefordshire, England provided Merlin Wright, Design Director & Katie Fontana, Creative Director and Co-Founder of Plain English plenty to discuss on our most recent Joinery Jaunt. “Beautiful Georgian joinery, which has been adapted and used for 250 years is still there and still lovely” is how it begins. But a wander through butler’s pantries, houekeeper’s cupboards and dairies call our attention to joinery principles in both likely and rather unlikely places too. Here, a taste of their time.
